I find myself writing to you and I really dont know much about your illness, we have just returned from the hospital after seeing our granson Corey (9 weeks) who was taken in today with fluid on the brain and as at this stage they are saying he has a cyst about the size of a golf ball at the back of his head. They want to do some test before they operate, we dont understand or know yet what is happening, we can only pray, I would like to say Thank you, and I hope one day soon we can feel as you do God Bless

Dear Kirra Almost two and a half years ago , i found your site for the first time. My son Connor had just been diagnosed with a low grade astrocytoma on his Cerebellum. Connor is turning five next month and other than the scar on the back of his head you would never even know what he went through. He is strong, very healthy and bright. In fact I am constantly telling him to slow down since he is such a wild and happy boy. I still worry about him and the fear of the tumor returning never leaves me but every time I look at him I realise how blessed I am to have him with me still. Kirra - stay healthly. I feel a real connection with you and your family. Love Vicki Renton mom of Connor - Brain tumour survivor!

Thank you for having this site. On July 9, 2002, my 5 year old cousin was found to have a tumor which involved over half of the cerebellum. She is scheduled for surgery in the morning, and it during a sleepless night that I sit at the computer searching for information.

I am glad to see a "positive" web page on the subject of brain tumors. I also could not find anything written for a "survivor. I was 46 years old, had a demanding job, three children, a sports car and ALOT of headaches when an MRI showed a tumor. I had an astrocytoma removed in February 2001 and have had a long, slow recovery. I started off in a wheelchair, then a walker, then used a cane. Now I walk on my own and am going through remedial classes in typing and clerical skills to try to find a job. I did `t drive for several months, partially because I was taking so many drugs. My prognosis is good but I feel like a time-bomb afraid that another tumor would show up or I would have a seizure. So far, so good. Best wishes to Kirra. Please keep me posted.

Dear Kirra, Hi, my name is Justin. When I was 9, I had a brain tumor very simular to yours. And now 12 years later I`m alive and doing well. My doctors have completely released me now. Although I did have some what of a scare last year. Lucky for me it was just the fact that I had outgrown my old shunt. But as for now I am fine. As I Hope you are fine. And will continue to be! Well gotta go. Hope to hear fome you. Justin and Joni Turner

To Kirra, I`m happy to hear that you are doing well now, I felt sad everytime I think of my nephew who`s 15 months old, diagnosed with celebral palsy, unfortunately he can`t go on with the treatment because of financial problem, To anyone who read this, let`s pray for him to find people who`s willing to help him.

What a great page for those going through similar situations, or who have had a brain tumor. I was diagnosed in 1988, when I was 12,with an astrocytoma in the cerebellum. The fist-sized tumor was pressing on optic and balance nerves, so I was in bad shape. It was removed within the last 12 hours before it would have ruptured. I ended up with a blood clot and my head was opened up twice, and all my hair was shaved. I now wear my hair to my bum, since I know how it feels to be a bald girl in school and everyone making fun of me. Childhood astrocytomas VERY RARELY reoccur, (I wrote a research paper on this) so Kirra has nothing to worry about! I was "cleared" after 1996, but I recently had another MRI last month because I am having more headaches and vision problems. Everything looks fine still!! I am lucky enough to live near the best Neurological unit in the States at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. If anyone in the States is in need of a Dr., you can go to the hospitals website. I`ve attached a pic of my hair, that I just can`t bare to cut!
